So, it’s been a while…

How are you? Surviving, or thriving your “coronacation 2020?”

For me this past year has been a complete whirlwind. I took some time off from blogging around Christmas 2018. The holidays are always busy, and I wanted to focus more of my time on family activities. Then life really got interesting… Early that spring, I started transitioning my job from managing a nonprofit professional choir to some consulting work helping my city government with a newly formed Culture, Arts and Heritage program. It was so exciting and fun to create a new civic grant program and author a comprehensive Public Art Plan for the city I love. My passion for the arts was put to good work and I was thrilled to be working for and with past colleagues who I adore and for whom I have great respect.

And, also, in this last year my husband landed a fantastic new job, we had out third baby, and we moved! For the record, I do not recommend moving within a month of having a baby, but luckily for us, we had a wonderful brood of family ready and willing to help with any and all our needs. I don’t know how I could have possibly done it without them!

Needless to say, sewing projects took a back burner this past year, and consequently, so did this blog. But, now that we’ve all be quarantined at home, and our stay at home order was just extended through May 31, I’ve decided it is a good time to jump back into sewing and writing and sharing with you all my tips and tricks for making all the things!

Its #MeMadeMay! I’ve never actually participated in this lovely month long holiday for sewists, but I’m committing to it this year! All month, I’ll wear and make at least one thing FROM MY STASH! I purged my stash of boxes and boxes and bags of fabrics and trims before we moved – and after we moved – and I still have too much. So I’m going to “shop” my stash and use only fabrics and trims and supplies I already have on hand.

So follow along if you are interested… My daily posts will mostly be on Instagram, and I’ll add more detailed interesting posts here on the blog weekly. Follow me if you’d like, @cut.stitch.press I hope some of my makes inspire you to get creative in your own way, and I hope you share your art and creativity with the world too!

We all need a little more art, a little more light, and a little more community right now. Happy sewing friends!
