Quick Make Bralette

By February 13, 2019Quick Make Monday

In the spirit of Valentines week, tonight’s quick make is a lacy little bralette that was a cinch to make in about an hour!

You might remember another bralette I made recently from a Madalynne Intimates Kit. The kit provided enough picot elastic and lace to make this fabulous Jordy Bralette from Emerald Erin. The pattern is a PDF download with extremely clear instructions. And she also sells full kits on her website that are comprised of beautiful laces, elastics, and hardware. I ordered a kit, but used my leftovers from the other bralette to make one while I waited for the kit to ship!

The one thing I didn’t have was wide band elastic the same size as the hook and eye I had, so I improvised by joining two lengths of strap elastic together with a decorative joining stitch. I actually kind of love how this turned out.

Once I had the band ready, I attached the hook and eye pieces.

Next I CUT the four cup pieces – two outters and two inners – and STITCHED them together. Since my lace is stretch lace, I used a stretch stitch, then top stitched with a narrow zigzag.

Next I attached the picot elastic along the edges of the bra cups. Emerald Erin’s instructions with illustrations are great for this step. Using a zigzag stitch, I attached the picot wrong side to right side of the lace, then I turned it to the inside and sitiched again. This puts the soft side of the picot trim agains your body with the nice lacy edge at the top. So cute!

I then attached the bra cups to the band strap – centered on the strap – right sides together, then pressed up and top stitched with a narrow zigzag.

Finally I made adjustable straps and attached them. I did it as the pattern calls, with the rings and adjusters in the front. I think I’d prefer a cleaner front look with the rings and adjusters in the back, but it is easier to adjust in the front!

e raw edges of the strap elastic!

And voila! A fun little bralette! Simple and quick! Emerald Erin is pretty adamant on her site that this does not need to be seen from stretch fabric, so you can experiment with just about any fabric you think would be soft, supportive, and comfortable. I’m thinking I might need to try one in flannel for a sleeping bra 🙂
